Dover to cap coach numbers crossing Channel to avoid post-Brexit border delays

LONDON — The Port of Dover has announced it will cap the number of coaches crossing the English Channel on ferries on Friday, to avoid another weekend of chaos at the border.Coaches full of children setting off on school trips to the EU had to wait for hours throughout last weekend, in some cases only to turn back or stay in hotels near Dover.Following an urgent probe, the Port of Dover has struck a deal with ferry operators to spread coach bookings from tomorrow to Saturday, in a bid to avoid similar delays over the Easter holiday weekend. Ferry operators including DFDS, Irish Ferries and P&O will spread coach bookings across a three-day period from Thursday to Saturday, the port said.There will also be additional French border officers and temporary border booths to speed up passport checks of coach passengers, after officials complained each bus was taking up to an hour to process. UK set to impose more red tape on EU imports from October

Transit Police: Man arrested for allegedly striking victim in back of the head at Downtown Crossing MBTA station

A 44-year-old Boston man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly striking an unsuspecting victim in the back of the head at the Downtown Crossing MBTA station. Police say the incident happened around 10 p.m. and officers located the suspect in Boston Common a short time later. The suspect was placed into custody and found to have several outstanding warrants for his arrest. Police say he was also in possession of a stolen credit card. The victim was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated. Their condition is unknown at this time. A Hopkinton brewing company has created a new beer paying homage to Dick Hoyt, who pushed his son in the Boston Marathon for decades, Start Line Brewing Company welcomed the Hoyt family as they packaged their Marathoner IPA before this year’s race. Every year, the brewery recognizes a person or theme that embodies the spirit of marathoning. Some of the proceeds will be donated to the 26.2 Foundation.
