A Dutch far-right lawmaker has been fined for publishing an edited photo of two government ministers next to a Nazi flag, the Netherlands’ Public Prosecution Service said in a statement Thursday.Pepijn van Houwelingen, of the populist Forum for Democracy Party (FVD), will have to pay a €450 fine.“After studying the file, the Public Prosecution Service concludes that this constitutes an insult from a legal point of view,” the statement read, adding that the picture was “unnecessarily offensive.”Last September, van Houwelingen posted a picture showing the Dutch health minister, Ernst Kuipers, lifting a flag showcasing UN Sustainable Development Goals, as well as an edited version of the same image in which a Nazi flag had been added. A DPW worker is in stable condition after being extricated from a trench on Bonita Street in Newton Thursday morning. Crews responding to the scene just after 9 a.m. found the worker buried up to his hip in a muddy ditch. “All of a sudden I saw one of the guys from the City of Newton screaming on the phone, ‘Hurry up, get here, get here, he’s fallen in the hole!'” neighbor Susan Delicata told 7NEWS. “I just came out and the two guys were trying to help to get him out of the hole,” she added. “I just saw the top of his head and it was all mud.”Newton Fire Chief Greg Gentile said the worker’s legs were buried and crews wasted no time rescuing him. “We found the victim conscious and breathing,” Gentile said. “There are probably minor injuries at this time.”Neighbors say the worker was in the trench fixing a leaking sewer line when the walls came caving in. “There will be an investigation and we’ll...

(CNN) — A sheriff and a local firearms dealer in Frederick County, Maryland, have been indicted on federal charges for their roles in a scheme to illegally acquire machine guns so they could be rented out for profit, federal prosecutors announced.A federal grand jury indicted Frederick County Sheriff Charles Austin Jenkins, 66, and Robert Justin Krop, 36, on charges of conspiracy and false statements to acquire machine guns, the US Department of Justice said in a Wednesday news release.Krop, who owns firearms-related businesses in the county, is also charged with illegal possession of seven machine guns, the agency said.Krop and his businesses are licensed to possess and deal machine guns under special circumstances, which include using the guns as demonstration samples for potential law enforcement buyers, according to the indictment.The indictment alleges that from August 2015 to May 2022 Jenkins and Krop conspired to unlawfully purchase machine guns by falsifying ...

Toronto police have arrested a suspect after a man was stabbed in the city’s downtown core.Police and paramedics were called to the Yonge and Gerrard streets area, near Toronto Metropolitan University, just after 11 a.m. on Thursday.Paramedics say the man, who is in his 20s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
